Gymnasts Back Home Against Utah

PROVO -- The BYU women's gymnastics team will be back in action Friday night when it hosts national-power and No. 3-ranked Utah at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center. This is the first of two meetings between the teams this season.

"This is another meet that provides a big crowd and a good chance to do well," BYU coach Brad Cattermole said. "We need to focus on what we are doing and keep getting better."

The Cougars are coming off a season-best 194.525 in their last meet against Boise State. BYU set season highs on bars (48.900) and beam (48.875). Kylee Draper (9.850) and Jennifer Matthews (9.750) recorded career highs on bars, while Cassie Myers recorded a season-high 9.800. Dayna Smart tied for first to lead the Cougars on beam with a season-high 9.875. In all, six gymnasts recorded individual season and career highs.

Utah, ranked No. 2 for much of the season, is coming into its ninth meet of the season. Last time out the Utes defeated No. 20 Minnesota 196.650 -- 193.400. Their season high is 197.200 against Utah State and Southern Utah. Top performers include Nicolle Ford, Ashley Postell and Kristina Baskett in the all-around; Gritt Hofmann on beam and Jessica Duke on floor.

Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center. The meet will broadcast live on BYU TV. A live stats feed will also be available on the schedule page of the BYU gymnastics homepage at byucougars.com.
