No. 10 Cougars travel to Hawai’i for invitational

PROVO, Utah – No. 10 BYU women’s volleyball travels to Honolulu, Hawai’i, this week to compete in the Outrigger Resorts Volleyball Challenge from Thursday to Saturday.
The Cougars will compete against host Hawai’i, Nevada and Baylor, who is receiving votes in the AVCA poll.
Hawai’i
- BYU faces Hawai’i Thursday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. HT at the Stan Sheriff Center.
- The Rainbow Wahine hold a 17-6 overall record against the Cougars in the series history.
- BYU won the last meeting between the two schools in a sweep during the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2013 in Honolulu.
- Hawai’i is off to a difficult 2-4 start to open the 2017 campaign, falling to ranked squads Utah, UCLA and San Diego.
Nevada
- The Cougars face the Wolf Pack Friday, Sept. 8, at 4:45 p.m. HT at the Stan Sheriff Center for a neutral-site match.
- BYU is 4-1 all-time against Nevada, picking up the last meeting in three sets in 2006.
- The Wolf Pack is also 2-4 on the young season, winning against common foes San Francisco and Utah Valley.
(RV) Baylor
- The Cougars conclude play in the invitational against the Bears Saturday, Sept. 9, at 3 p.m. HT at the Stan Sheriff Center.
- The two squads have never competed against each other before.
- Baylor is off to a 4-2 start so far this season, falling only to ranked Florida State and the College of Charleston.
