Prepped at Reno High where he lettered twice in baseball and once in soccer and cross country ... was Northern Nevada Player of the Year, all-state and honorable-mention All-America ... led state in home runs (20) and RBI (65) ... homer total was third in the nation ... cross country team won state championship ... coached by Pete Savage (Santa Clara) ... recruited by Stanford and Washington.

Junior Year 2003

Batted .231 in 21 games played with six starts with seven hits and six walks

Senior Year 2004

Named a scholar athlete by the Cougar Club ... appeared in 40 games, starting half of them ... finished the final two weeks batting .429 with two home runs in six games ... went 4-for-6 in a May 21 game against Air Force, scoring four runs, hitting two doubles and blasting a two-run bomb over the 400-foot wall in centerfield that landed in the street and bounced into the bushes at the Marriott Center across the road ... finished the season hitting .268, his highest batting average in four seasons at BYU.
