Parents are William and Gloria...married Julie Demke in July, 1987...recruited by Arizona, Northern Arizona, San Diego State and New Mexico...Bob's mother is full-blooded Italian...his uncle, Dan Piluga, was a tight end at Arizona State...benches 460 pounds...likes to "bonk" heads off the field with teammates who don't wear helmets...caddied for Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr., when Bob lived in Youngstown, Ohio...majoring in criminal justice.

Before BYU

High School - Played tight end and linebacker at Mountain View High...lettered in football and wrestling...all-state in football...team was 15-0 in football...team MVP...coached by Jesse Parker (Oklahoma).

Freshman Year 1986

Played for the jayvees...suited up for several varsity games.

Sophmore Year 1987

Slow start due to hairline leg fracture...earned starting spot at inside linebacker by midseason...ninth in defensive points in half a season.

Junior Year 1988

One of 12 finalists for the Butkus Award...All-WAC...honorable mention All-America by AP...finished further ahead in defensive points than any BYU player ever with 290 compared to 193 for runner-up Chad Robinson...had 148 tackles, returned from knee scope after Utah game to play against Miami and in bowl game...selected as WAC defensive player of the week and defensive player of the game by the media for his performance on ESPN at Hawai'i...at Hawai'i he had 10 unassisted tackles, six assisted tackles, three tackles for losses and four quarterback hurries...had eight assisted tackles at Miami and 10 unassisted tackles vs. Colorado in the Freedom Bowl...had shoulder surgery after season...had knee scoped again after tearing ligaments weight lifting.
