A native of Pleasanton, California, Lamb came to BYU from Ricks College as a linebacker in 1994. After redshirting his first season, Lamb played defensive end for the Cougars in 1995 and 1996. He was a member of four conference title teams during his career at Ricks and BYU.
Played defensive end for BYU as the Cougars tied for the Western Athletic Conference title and finished the season with a 7-4 overall record.
Played defensive end in 1996. BYU’s defense allow just 18.7 points per game and 295.2 total yards per game while achieving a 14-1 record and No. 5 national finish after winning the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day.
Redshirted the 1994 season after transferring from Ricks College, where he played linebacker
