Before BYU

Two-time all-region and all-state selection at Brighton High School...led his team to a 10-2 record and the state semifinals his senior year ... won state championship in wrestling his senior year.

Saw limited action during spring drills after suffering a knee injury...started all 12 games at left guard for BYU...earned coaches' award for performances against UNLV, Wyoming, and Utah...part of an offensive lineman that did not allow a single sack in back-to-back games during the season, marking the first time the Cougars have not allowed a single sack in consecutive games since the 1985 season...provided pass protection for the top-ranked BYU passing offense, which averaged 274.6 yards per game.

Senior Year 2001

Signed a free-agent contract with the Oakland Raiders...12-2 season, MWC Champions...started 11-of-13 regular-season games for the Cougars and started in the Liberty Bowl against No. 22 Louisville...Honorable Mention All-MWC...Honorable Mention Media All-MWC...a member of the 2001 MWC Championship team...helped BYU to a 12-2 record during the season, including a streak of 12 straight wins...a significant contributor for the top-ranked offense in the nation (averaging 46.8 points and 542.8 yards per game)...provided protection for Heisman Trophy candidate Brandon Doman, who threw for 3,500 yards...a key blocker for Doak Walker Award Winner Luke Staley, who scored 28 touchdowns and rushed for 1,596 yards on the season...selected as 2001 offensive line MVP (team).
