GREENWOOD, Ind. — Sophomore Angel Zhong was selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Women’s At-Large Team and is now eligible to be considered for Academic All-America Honors.
Zhong is majoring in neuroscience, with a minor in family life and maintains a 4.0 GPA. In the 2018 season, she competed in the lineup in all meets and set career-high scores of 9.850 on the vault and bars. Zhong also earned the Scholastic All-American Award from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women for the 2016-17 season.
The 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women’s At-Large Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with the Google Cloud Academic All-America teams announced in June.

STILLWATER, Okla. – Rose Huang finished top 25 at the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships on Monday.
"Rose Huang was very solid all week," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "She had a great comeback on her back nine today. She held her own against the best this week."
During the final round Monday, Huang recorded a 73 (+1) to finish tied for 21st overall. Firing a 72-hole total of 292, she carded 14 birdies over four rounds, including four on the final day. She concluded the NCAA Championships tied with five other players including Robyn Choi (Colorado), Albane Valenzuela (Stanford), Alice Chen (Furman), Dylan Kim (Arkansas) and Sophia Schubert (Texas).
Heading into today's final round of individual players at the NCAA Championships, Huang was tied for 17th place with a 54-hole total of (+3) 219. The junior, who played her Sunday third round score on Thursday, shot 70-75-74 in the first three rounds.
She was one of nine individuals, who was not on the top 15 teams, who advanced to Monday play. Going into the fourth round, Cheyenne Knight (Alabama) Jennifer Kupcho (Wake Forest) and Bianca Pagdanganan (Arizona) were all tied for first place at 209 (-7).
Kupcho finished in first place 280 (-8) while Pagdanganan and Andrea Lee (Stanford) tied for second place with a total score of 282 (-6).
Last year, Alex White finished 14th individually in the NCAA Championship.

PROVO, Utah – Senior Matt Denkers was named to the 2017-18 CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Men’s At-Large Team and will be considered for Academic All-America honors.
The 2017-18 College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Academic All-District Men’s At-Large Team recognized top-student athletes in the nation for their collective performances in the classroom and on the playing field. Utah is part of District 8 which also includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada.
Denkers graduated in 2018 with a degree in information systems and a 3.91 GPA. He is currently enrolled at the BYU Marriott School of Business working towards a master’s degree.
Named Academic All-MPSF, Denkers also received the BYU Kimball Memorial Award which is awarded to the BYU student athlete with the highest cumulative GPA.
During his senior year, Denkers placed second in the 1-meter at the MPSF Championships. His performance at the MPSF Championships resulted in being named First-Team All-MPSF on the 1-meter and Second-Team All-MPSF on the 3-meter and platform.
During the regular season, the Indiana native recorded first place finishes on the 1-meter at the Wyoming Invite and Intermountain Shootout. Denkers also holds the No. 2 all-time record on the 3-meter.
First-team Academic All-District honorees move on to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced in June.

EUGENE, Ore. – BYU softball junior Libby Sugg, senior Briielle Breland and sophomore Brooke Vander Heide were named to the NCAA Eugene All-Region Team after their performances against Drake and UAlbany last week.
Sugg batted .250 in the three tournament games with two hits and three RBI.
Breland had three hits and three runs after batting .375 on the week, including a perfect 2 for 2 at the plate with one home run and two RBI against UAlbany on Friday.
Vander Heide batted .429 with three hits, one triple and two RBI. The outfielder also stole one base.
