COLORADO SPRINGS -- Junior outfielder Matt Carson earned Mountain West Conference Player of the Week honors and San Diego State junior Joe Carque earned MWC Pitcher of the Week accolades. Carson and Carque are first-time MWC honorees this season.

A native of Yucaipa, Calif. (Yucaipa HS), Carson stretched his hitting streak to a league-high 12 games after going 8-for-14 (.571) from the plate with two home runs and five RBI last week. In a 5-2 win over Pacific, Carson belted two homers, drove in three runs and scored twice. He also blasted a double and a triple, and added another RBI in the series vs. the Tigers. In a victory at Santa Clara, Carson went 2-for-4 with one RBI, and in a loss to No. 1 Stanford he was 1-for-4.

Carque, of Henderson, Nev. (Pasadena CC), allowed three hits and struck out six, while earning his first career victory in the Aztecs' 4-2 win over Western Kentucky. The right hander gave up two earned runs in seven innings pitched.
