Mousser Earns Second MWC Season Honor
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU junior righthander Jeff Mousser and UNLV junior outfielder Brent Johnson and are the Mountain West Conference Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively. Mousser is a four-time honoree, while Johnson is a three-time award winner.
Mousser, from Tempe, Ariz. (Marcos de Niza HS), tossed the second complete game of his career, striking out five and walking one in nine innings as the Cougars downed Washington State, 4-0. Mousser scattered five hits in the game and lowered his season ERA to 1.86, while improving to 3-0 on the year.
Johnson, from Las Vegas, Nev. (Durango HS), went 6-for-13 from the plate last week, while helping the Rebels to a 1-2 record. He was 2-for-5 with a home run and a double, while driving in three runs in UNLV's 13-5 win over Nevada. He was 1-for-3 with a home run in a 14-6 loss to Nevada and closed out the series by going 3-for-4 with a homer in a 7-3 loss to the Wolf Pack. For the week, Johnson hit .462 with three home runs and five RBI.
