Among Final NCAA Leaders
In the final NCAA baseball statistics just released for the recently completed 2003 season, BYU was well represented in six team categories and seven individual areas.
The Cougars finished third in triples with a 0.57 average per game, fourth in doubles at 2.54, sixth in slugging at .529, eighth in batting at .330, ninth in scoring with an 8.6 average, and 24th in home runs at 1.20 per game.
Junior Shortstop Ranger Wiens was fourth nationally in doubles with a 0.47 average and 30th with a .405 batting average.
Senior outfielder Doug Jackson was seventh in runs with a 1.31 average and eighth with a 0.15 average in triples.
Junior third baseman Kainoa Obrey finished eighth in doubles with a 0.45 average and 21st with 1.23 RBI per game.
Junior pitcher Paul Jacinto tied for 25th with 10 victories.
