First Scrimmage Set
PROVO -- BYU fans will get their first look at the 2002 Cougars on Wednesday, Aug. 14. BYU head coach Gary Crowton announced today the Cougars will participate in their first of only two fall camp scrimmages, beginning at 10 a.m. at LaVell Edwards Stadium. It is expected the Cougars will run between 80 and 100 plays, giving coaches a good chance to evaluate this year's talent.
"We have some decision to make," Crowton said. "We are wanting to find out who will be our number two quarterback, who will be our number two and three running backs, which guys will step up as our sixth, seventh and eighth offensive lineman, etc.
"Defensively, we need to look at sorting things out on the line, who will fill the second safety spot, who our backup corners will be. So, we have a lot of things to look at. The good thing is, we have some depth to work with. We've got a lot of guys working hard out there and we're looking forward to putting it all together."
