Domanator Named Davey O'Brien Award Semifinalist

FORT WORTH -- The Davey O'Brien Foundation today announced 12 semifinalists for the 2001 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award, presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback. The O'Brien Advisory Committee, composed of national sportswriters and commentators will vote again later this month.

Three finalists will be announced Tuesday, Nov. 27 by the National College Football Awards Association in a joint effort among college football award programs.

The 12 semifinalists, in alphabetical order, are: David Carr, Fresno State, Sr.; Eric Crouch, Nebraska, Sr.; Woodrow Dantzler, Clemson, Sr.; Brandon Doman, Brigham Young, Sr.; Ken Dorsey, Miami (Fla.), Jr.; Jason Gesser, Washington State, Jr.; Rex Grossman, Florida, Soph.; Joey Harrington, Oregon, Sr.; Eli Manning, Mississippi, Soph.; Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech, Jr.; Kurt Kittner, Illinois, Sr.; and Chris Simms, Texas, Jr.

The winner of the 2001 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award will be announced on the 2001 Home Depot College Football Awards Show, 9:00 PM EST, Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001. The show will air on ESPN live from the Atlantic Dance Hall on the BoardWalk at Disney, right next to Epcot in Orlando, Fla. The winner and two runners-up will be honored at the 25th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner, Feb. 18, 2002, at The Fort Worth Club, Fort Worth, Tx. Air transportation is provided by American Airlines, the official airline of the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
