Cougars to Play in National All-Star Games
PROVO -- A handful of former BYU football players, looking to improve their draft status, will be competing in three different All-Star games over the next couple weeks.
Former defensive tackle Hans Olsen and tight end Tevita Ofahengaue will be competing in the Rotary Gridiron Classic on Saturday, Jan. 13. Both Olsen and Ofahengaue will be competing for Team USA and head coach Buddy Ryan as they go up against all-stars from Florida. The game will be played in Orlando at the Citrus Bowl and will be broadcast live to a national audience on ESPN2, beginning at 11 a.m. (MST).
On Saturday, Jan. 20, defensive tackle Chris Hoke will compete at the Rivals.com Hula Bowl in Honolulu. Hoke will play for head coach Bobby Bowden on the South team. Former BYU head coach LaVell Edwards will serve as an assistant coach for the South. Ofahengaue has also been listed as an alternate for the game and is expected to see action. The game will be televised by ESPN and will kickoff at 3 p.m. (HST).
Also on Jan. 20, BYU's second-leading all-time receiver Margin Hooks will compete in the Delchamps Senior Bowl at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The game is scheduled for noon (MST) and will be broadcast on ESPN.
