Utah State to Honor LaVell Edwards on Saturday

LOGAN, Utah -- Utah State University will recognize the accomplishments of one of its most famos alumni when the Aggies honor LaVell Edwards at halftime of the Utah State vs. Idaho basketball game at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in Logan on Saturday, Jan. 27.

In addition to his recognition at halftime, Edwards will be inducted into the University's Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department Hall of Fame on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in an even that will be open to the public.

Edwards, who recently retired as the head football coach at Brigham Young Universtiy, graduated from Utah State in 1952. He was a three-year football letter-winner for the Aggies in 1948, 50 and 51 and was named to the school's all-century team as a linebacker in 1993. Edwards was also and All-Mountain States Conference selection as a halfback in 1950.
