BYU-USU Game Not Available Outside KSL Broadcast Area

PROVO -- BYU athletic department officials today confirmed the BYU-Utah State game, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, will not be available for viewing on the Church's satellite system.

"We've been working through the process of getting this approved through the proper Church authorities," BYU Senior Associate Athletics Director Peter Pilling said. "However, the process has not been finalized."

Should the proposal to broadcast selected BYU football and basketball games be approved, broadcast information will be distributed through the proper information channels. In addition, a broadcast schedule will be posted on the University's official athletic website, http://www.byucougars.com.

Friday's game will only be available to television viewers in the Salt Lake area market on KSL, Ch. 5. The game, which will be produced by SportsWest, will be transmitted to KSL from Logan via digital transmitter, and will not be available on private satellite systems.

The game will be rebroadcast on Monday, Oct. 7 on BYU-TV at 8 p.m. (MST) and on KBYU at 10:30 p.m. (MST).
