PROVO -- BYU Athletic Director Val Hale and several Cougar Club members were among those gathered at Edwards Stadium today to ceremoniously remove the first bench from the east-side stands.
Construction crews will begin removing the benches and implementing necessary structural changes to make room for 1,800 new, chair-back, club seats. While seating capacity in Edwards Stadium will drop from 65,000 to 64,045, the changes have the potential to generate over $1 million over a single season. The project is expected to be complete in June. The restructuring of the east-side seating is the first major cosmetic undertaking to the stadium since it was expanded in 1982.
Overall, three sections (below the concourse) will be remodeled to provide premium chair seats. Section 34, located between the 35 and 50 yard lines, will be remodeled to accommodate 1,110 char-back seats that will provide fans additional width and leg room. These seats will come with a variety of amenities including, reserved parking, game program and a hospitality area where food and beverages will be provided for pre-game, halftime and post-game.
Located between the 25-35 yard lines, sections 33 and 35 will contain 700 new chair-back seats with additional width and legroom. These seats will include reserved parking and a game program.
Fans interested in purchasing seats in the new Cougar Club and Legacy Club sections should contact the Cougars Club at (801) 422-2583 or (800) 426-4298 for additional information.
