Book Chronicles History of San Diego's Bowl Game

The Pacific Life Holiday Bowl continues its 25th Anniversary celebration with a book chronicling the highlights and history of San Diego's Bowl Classic. "Miracles and Memories - 25 Years of Holiday Bowl Magic" was released June 17 at a private reception in the bowl offices at Qualcomm Stadium.

John Reid, Holiday Bowl executive director from 1980 to 2000, recounts the great plays and great games that have served to define "America's Most Exciting Bowl Game." He details the development of the bowl's acclaimed festival of events. And, he takes readers behind-the-scenes to examine the discussions, decisions and negotiations over the years that have placed the bowl in the position of prominence it enjoys today.

Along with the historical narrative, this quality book features a striking display of photography that vividly captures 25 years of game action, pageantry and personalities.

The Pacific Life Holiday Bowl is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and has a mission of generating tourism, exposure, economic benefit and civic pride for San Diego and its citizens by producing the nation's most exciting bowl game and festival of events. The 2002 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl featured the No. 6 Kansas State Wildcats who defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils 34-27 in front of 58,717 at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium December 27.

The 2003 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl kicks off Tuesday, December 30 at 5 p.m.
