PROVO, Utah – BYU women's soccer travels to Salt Lake City to face in-state rival Utah on Friday, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. MDT in the Deseret First Duel. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network and live audio will be carried on the Cougar IMG Sports Network on BYUCougars.com and the BYU Cougars app.

The Cougars (1-1-2) will try to win their second straight game over Utah (3-0-1). BYU won 1-0 in Provo last season on an 88th minute penalty kick. In the last game in Salt Lake, Utah won 1-0 after a goal in the 30th minute.

Over the weekend, BYU won 1-0 at Tennessee on an Elena Medeiros goal in the 17th minute. The Cougars lost 2-1 to Baylor in Provo on Monday after conceding goals in the final minute of the first half and the second minute of the second half. Sophomores Ashley Hatch and Elena Medeiros along with freshman Elisabeth Phillips have scored for BYU this season. Senior Niki Fernandes and freshman Nadia Gomes have assisted on goals for the Cougars. Goalkeepers Katherine Snyder and Hannah Clark have rotated halves this season and the pair has combined on two shutouts.

So far this season, Utah has defeated Oral Roberts, Boise State and Cal State Northridge and tied Oklahoma on the road. Six different players have scored goals for the Utes with Kaycee Buckley leading the team with two. Katie Taylor has three assists so far this season. Goalkeeper Lindsey Luke has played in every game for Utah and shut out opponents twice. She didn't play against BYU last year in Provo, but did enter the game for the final 75 minutes in 2012.

BYU is 19-6-1 against Utah all-time. Since Rich Manning took over as head coach of the Utes, BYU is 8-6-1 and the Cougars are 8-3-0 all-time in Salt Lake.

Following the Utah game, BYU will host LSU on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. MDT on South Field.
