PROVO, Utah – Ashley Hatch, Brittain Dearden Steiner and Madie Lyons each scored goals Saturday night as White beat Blue 3-0 in the Blue/White scrimmage at South Field.

"This was a good opportunity to see what we have to work with," BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. "We have a lot of players returning and a lot of options. We saw some good things from our newcomers."

Hatch put White on the board in the 23rd minute of the first 35-minute half, as teammate Nadia Gomes drew out Blue goalkeeper Hannah Clark and passed to Hatch, who scored with her left foot. Her goal was the only score of the first half, as White outshot Blue eight to three.

In the 38th minute, Brittain Dearden Steiner took possession of a ball that was knocked around and rifled it in from just outside the 18-yard box for a goal in the top right corner of the net.

Madie Lyons was one of several players who split time between the two teams, and she capped off the scoring in the 65th minute. Taylor Campbell Isom and Michele Vasconcelos assisted, as Vasconcelos' cross connected with Lyons' left foot and she drilled a shot that bounced down off the crossbar and in.

On the night, White outshot Blue 16-5. Lyons led in shots, taking three for Blue and two later for White.

The second of BYU's three scrimmages will be the alumni game, and will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. MDT at South Field.
