Cougars begin away at Washington State, at home against Nebraska
PROVO, Utah – BYU women's soccer opens its season this weekend at Washington State and then turns around to host Nebraska on Monday.
Washington and Nebraska Game Notes
The No. 16 Cougars play in Pullman, Washington, on Friday at 7 p.m. PDT against the host Cougars. That game will be televised through Pac-12 Networks with a live stream at Pac-12.com.
Monday's home opener with the Cornhuskers will begin at 5:30 p.m. MDT at South Field. That game can be viewed on BYUtv.
Radio broadcasts of both games are available through the Cougar IMG Network, ESPN 960 AM, BYU Radio and Sirius XM 143.
The No. 16 Cougars return all 11 starters from last year's opener and has a MAC Hermann Trophy nominee in reigning WCC Player of the Year Nadia Gomes. Rachel Boaz was named 2015 WCC Goalkeeper of the Year and helped BYU to 14 shutouts. Gomes, Ashley Hatch, Michele Vasconcelos and Elena Medeiros were picked to All-WCC Preseason Team.
Washington State finished 14-6 last season and was eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars return Kaitlyn Johnson, who led the team in goals (7) and assists (6) in 2015.
Nebraska finished 8-7-2 last year and returns Caroline Flynn, who led the Cornhuskers in 2015 with five goals. BYU beat Nebraska in 2013 and 2015.
