No. 8 Cougars clash with Buckeyes in Monday's home opener
PROVO, Utah – Ohio State comes into town as No. 8 BYU women's soccer hosts the Buckeyes in the home opener Monday.
BYU Storylines
The Cougars dropped their season opener 3-1 at Penn State last Friday. Despite the score, BYU hung close in possession and shots, particularly in the second half. Cameron Tucker scored her first collegiate goal off a cross from fellow freshman Mikayla Colohan.
Looking to bounce back against the Buckeyes, the Cougars haven't dropped back-to-back games since 2014.
Ohio State Storylines
In their season opener at Arizona State, the Buckeyes won 2-1 in overtime. Meghan Kammerdeiner's 98th minute goal clinched it for Ohio State, who got a goal and assist from both Kammerdeiner and Sammy Edwards.
Like BYU, Ohio State's top scorer in 2016, Lindsay Agnew, was a senior. Edwards is the top-returning scorer, with six goals last season.
The Buckeyes were picked to finish eighth in Big Ten preseason poll.
