Five Cougars Honored By Conference
Las Vegas, NV. (Nov. 6, 2001) All-American Aleisha Cramer received top honors by the Mountain West Conference being named Player of the Year at the start of this week's women's soccer championships. Four other teammates received First and Second Team honors.
Cramer, a 5-10 defensive center midfielder, along with midfielders Jeni Willardson Viernes and Jennie Christianson were named to the MWC All-Conference First Team. Freshman forward Kim Devine and senior defender Aurelin Weidner were named to the Second Team.
The 2001 MWC Women's Soccer Championships begins Wednesday in Las Vegas. BYU clinched the regular season title with a 5-1-0 record and gets a first round bye in the tournament. Their first game is on Thursday afternoon.
The conference champion gets an automatic invitation into this year's 64-team NCAA Women's Soccer College Cup that begins on Nov. 15.
