BYU Records Second Straight Shutout
PROVO -- The BYU women's soccer game posted its second shutout in as many nights, dealing the University of Pacific a 2-0 loss Saturday night.
Senior Maren Hendershot and Sarah Higham each scored for the Cougars, while Karen Wunderli chalked up an assist.
The Cougars scored both of their goals early in the first half. Just over ten minutes into play, Higham connected on an outside kick, and less than four minutes later, Hendershot converted on a pass from Wunderli.
BYU was unable to net a goal for the rest of the game, despite controlling much of the action and recording 13 shots in the second half.
Pacific was held to a mere six shots in the game, three in each half.
"We struggled tonight, but we'll take a win whenever we can get one," said head coach Jennifer Rockwood.
For the second straight night, every player on the BYU roster saw action on the field. The Cougars defeated Washington, 3-0, Friday night before handing Pacific its loss.
"The last two nights everyone's played, and we won both games. Everyone's gotten to contribute," Rockwood said. "We played outstanding against Washington, and it's natural to come down a little after a big, huge game, but we're 9-1 and I'm very pleased about that."
BYU improved to 9-1, remaining unbeaten at home this season, while Pacific dropped to 6-3.
The Cougars will next host Weber State at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at South Field before packing up for a weekend trip to the East Coast.
