Bowman Named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- BYU freshman midfielder Brooke Bowman has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week after helping the Cougars to a 2-0 record in conference play last week. This is her first career weekly honor.

Bowman, a Plano, Texas, native, scored two goals on 13 shots and added two assists on the week. She started the week leading the Cougars (12-5-0, 5-0-0 MWC) to a 3-2 win over UNLV by tallying two assists and scoring the game-winning goal. Bowman assisted both of Jeni Viernes' goals, the first in the 45th minute and the second in the 59th minute, tying the score at two apiece. She then knocked in the game-winner on a Lydia Ojuka assist in the 74th minute to secure the win. Against San Diego State, Bowman put the game out of reach with her goal in the 56th minute (assisted by Ojuka), helping BYU to a 5-1 victory. On the season, she is second on the team with seven goals and third in total points with 16.
