LAS VEGAS -- The BYU women's soccer team traveled to Las Vegas this past weekend to compete in their second day of spring competition. BYU managed to win two of the three games the team played, bringing their Spring Season record to 4-1.

While in Las Vegas the Cougars faced Northern Arizona, UNLV, and Utah all on Saturday, March 8 playing each team in 45 minutes games.

BYU defeated Northern Arizona in their first game 2-1. The team's first goal came with defender, Charlene Lui dribbling to the endline and sending a driven ball across the face of the goal. She found forward, Jennifer Fielding, who redirected the ball into the back of the net. After Northern Arizona tied the game, Aleisha Rose drove the ball to sophomore Kimmie Davis who was able to put in the game winner with just minutes remaining.

In the second game of the day, the Cougars defeat UNLV 2-0 with the first goal being scored by freshman, Jaime Rendich, after a cross from Katie Gabbart, who was able to break through the UNLV defensive line. The Cougars second goal game off a cross by Kimmie Davis who found Brooke Bowman. Bowman's header was deflected in front of the goal and finished by Brooke Thulin. Thulin's goal was the first of her BYU career.

The last match of the day found the Cougars against the University of Utah. Krissa Campbell scored early in the game at the six-minute mark off a free kick from Aleisha Rose. However, the Cougars were unable to keep the lead as Utah scored two goals late in the game to solidify the win.

"The weekend was a great opportunity for us to play some quality games and gain valuable experiences," said head coach Jen Rockwood.
