BYU's Bolm Named MWC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Colorado State University senior Bryan Berryhill and BYU senior Kirsten Bolm have been selected Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.
Berryhill took first-place in the mile run at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., Jan. 27 with an impressive time of 3:57.05. This feat makes him the first collegiate runner this season to run a sub-four minute mile. In his first mile race of the season, the Central Point, Ore., native beat last year's NCAA champion of the mile and is only .54 seconds off from his previous record of 3:56.51. His time in this event qualifies him for an automatic NCAA bid and tops the Mountain West Conference best list, 14 seconds ahead of the second place spot.
At the Minnesota Classic Jan. 27, Bolm led the Cougars to a first-place finish out of nine teams. The Scheessel, Germany, native set a meet record with a time of 8.34 in the 60-meter hurdles. This accomplishment provisionally qualified her for the NCAA championships and earned her a first-place finish in the meet and a ranking amongst the conferences top times. Bolm also earned a first-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 19'09.50" (6.03m), another best in the conference.
