Freshman Year
2015
- Notched first career touchdown on a Hail Mary with one second left to defeat Nebraska on the road
- Won his first NCAA football game he started vs. Boise State on a go-ahead touchdown in the final minute of the game
- Threw 17 of 28 for 309 yards and two touchdowns and recorded his first rushing touchdown vs. Boise State
- Threw a career-high 30 of 47 for 244 yards, one touchdown and one interception at UCLA
- Threw 365 yards (freshman QB passing record), two touchdowns and two interceptions on 35 of 53 (career highs) passing against UConn
- Finished the game against ECU 24 of 33 for 332 yards (254 in the first half for a career-high) and three touchdowns
- Completed 19 of 32 passes for 253 yards, one interception and two touchdowns with a long of 53 against Cincinnati
- Threw three touchdowns while completing 12 of 13 passes for 237 yards by the 9:49 mark in the second quarter against Wagner
- His 15th touchdown pass of the season tied the BYU freshman record for most in a season. He threw for 293 yards on 23-of-37 passing against San Jose State. He started off the game 6 of 7 on the first drive with 51 yards and a TD pass
- Completed 23 of 41 passes with 244 yards and one touchdown against Mizzou. His first completion of the second half went for 11 yards, surpassing the BYU freshman passing yard record (2,316) set by Jake Heaps. With the 6-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter, Mangum surpassed another school freshman QB record for pass TDs in a season with 16
- Had his fourth career game with 300 or more passing yards against Fresno State, finishing the game 24 of 37 for 336 yards and one touchdown. He surpassed Jake Heaps for most wins by a starting freshman QB (7), consecutive games with a touchdown pass (7) and most completions by a freshman QB (226)
- Threw 16 of 30 for 284 passing yards and four touchdowns against Utah State, becoming the first 3,000-yard passer since Max Hall in 2009, the 13th member of the 3,000 club at BYU and the first freshman QB to reach that mark. It was his first game of four passing touchdowns and his third game with three or more this season. Mangum also set the BYU record for freshman quarterback pass attempts in a season, now totaling 390 for the season
- In the Las Vegas Bowl, went 25 of 56 for 315 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions, surpassed his previous career-high attempt total and ended the season with seven multi-touchdown games and five games with 300+ passing yards
- Named to Phil Steele's Postseason All-Independent First Team
- Earned Honorable Mention Freshman All-America by Campus Insiders
- Named Touchdown Club of Columbus Freshman of the Year
- Named 2015-16 Male Rookie of the Year at annual Y Awards
