Parents are C. Kay and Viola, both of who attended BYU...married Deana Moon...served a mission to Vancouver, Canada...was a junior college All-American in football at Mesa Community College...majoring in accounting.
Before BYU
At Mesa High he was McDonald's Player of the Year...all-conference for two years and all-state...in wrestling he was all-conference and all-state and runner-up Arizona Prep Champion at 191...football coach was Ben Arredondo (Arizona State).
Made 25 tackles in varsity action...also saw time with the jayvee...intercepted a pass against Weber State when he started in place of the injured Glen Redd...primarily was a backup to Redd throughout the season...saw limited action in the Holiday Bowl.
Named coaches' player of the game against Utah State and Wyoming...injured his neck against UTEP and consequently missed the remainder of the season.
